PS Vita Console Unlock
This tutorial covers the process of unlocking the PS Vita console (it is the same for a FAT or a SLIM)
NOTE: The following is at your own risk. I have tested these options several times on my own console without issues, which does not mean this works correctly on all consoles. I cannot be held responsible if it does not work for you or if you damage your consoles.
MATERIALS LIST
- Playstation VITA (PSVita) FAT or SLIM
- USB-Vita cable
- Unlock folder (NOTE: it is over 600Mb)
- MicroSD to USB adapter
- MicroSD to PSVita adapter (SD2Vita)
- ORIGINAL PSVita memory card (FAT model only)
- MicroSD of any size (128Gb or more recommended)
- PSNetwork account
CONSOLE PREPARATION
- Fully charge the battery
- Remove any card from the memory slots
- Insert the original memory card in the bottom slot (PSVita FAT only)
- Perform a factory reset of the console
- Install the latest firmware available from the console
- Install the upper memory card and format it
- Configure the PSNetworks account on the console
- Configure the console parameters (WIFI, Date, Time, etc)
COMPUTER PREPARATION (Windows)
- Unzip the unlock folder
- Install CMASetup, which are the drivers for the console
- Install QCMA, which is the program that allows connecting the PSVita to the computer
- Install NANO-Hencore, which generates the H-Encore application, required for the unlock
- Install win32imager to perform the final formatting process of the microSD correctly
UNLOCK EXECUTION
- Launch the QCMA application, which appears in the status bar with a PSVita icon, indicating its status:
- Black screen = disconnected
- White screen = online
- Right-click the icon and select refresh database
- Connect the console with the USB cable to the computer (can also be done via wifi, but it is very slow)
- Go to Documents→PS Vita→APP and copy the name of the folder found inside
- Launch NANOENCORE
- The id it asks for is the name of the folder we copied a bit above
- This opens a browser page where it generates a 64-character code that we copy.
- Go back to NANOENCORE, press a key and now it asks for that 64-character code
- This generates a folder called PCS* inside the folder called H-Encore2, which we must copy into the folder Documents→PS Vita→APP→our id
- Go to the QCMA icon, verify it appears with a white screen, right-click and refresh database.
- On the console, content manager, copy content, from PC→PsVita, Applications, PS Vita and there appears h-encore, select it and press copy.
- Once copied, open h-encore. It may fail when trying to start, just retry until it works.
- When it works, first install HENkaku, then VitaShell (a content manager for PSVita), then press Exit.
- Go to Console Settings and enter the menu called HENkaku Settings, and enable the second option.
- At this step, the console is temporarily unlocked (every time it restarts you must run HENkaku again and reconfigure it)
PERMANENT UNLOCK
- For the unlock to be permanent, you must downgrade the firmware version to one of those available in the 2.Downgrade folder
- Open VitaShell to connect the console's memory to the computer as a removable drive, mounting the ux0 unit, which is the removable memory.
- Place the cursor over the ux0 unit and press select, whereby the memory is mapped to the computer as a remote unit.
- On the PC, open the 2.Downgrade→3.60 folder (or 3.65, but 3.60 works better)
- Take the contents of that folder (folder + the 2 applications) and copy them to the root of the mapped unit.
- Disconnect the console (O button), and from VitaShell enter ux0, look for the application called modoru (which is what ultimately allows performing the firmware downgrade)
- Enter the ux0 folder and delete the plugins folder (tai). Do the same in ur0
- Restart the console, run h-encore (open the app and close it) then open settings and re-enable the second option in HENkaku Settings
- Open modoru to perform the downgrade, if an error appears related to an error opening modoru, this is because some files were deleted (this is common). To fix this, copy the files again from 2.Downgrade→3.60→app to ux0, overwriting if it exists, also delete the plugins folders again and restart the console.
- Run h-encore again, configure the second HENkaku option.
- Run modoru again and follow the instructions. This prepares the old firmware to be installed automatically.
- After restarting, we are now on the old firmware.
- Open the console's internet browser, go to http://henkaku.xyz and follow the instructions to install it. This runs a program, which once finished returns to the console's home screen.
- Open HENkaku settings again and enable the second option again
- Open VitaShell and go to ux0, and run the enso.vpk program, following the on-screen instructions.
- To prevent it from offering to install updates and to be able to play online with the PSN account, go to Settings→HENkaku Settings→Version for spoofing and enter 3.73.
INSTALLATION OF REQUIRED APPLICATIONS
- In the folder there are some necessary applications that we must install:
- Autoplugin2 is to load necessary plugins on the console
- Pkgj is for installing games
- Adrenaline is the PSP emulator
- These applications are installed from VitaShell like the previous ones. If it says there is a new version, apply the update
PLUGIN INSTALLATION
- To do this, enter AutoPluginII, select Plugins for PS Vita and press Install Plugins. Look for the following:
- Download Enabler by TheOfficialFloW
- NoAVLS by SilicaAndPina
- NoNpDrm by TheOfficialFloW
- NoPsmDrm by frangarcj
- reFOOD by FAPS Team
- Place the cursor on any of those we selected and press X to install them
- Restart the console to activate
MEMORY PREPARATION
- First insert the memory into the computer to format it, using NTFS as the file system
- Then with the win32imager application, copy the zBlank.img image to the new memory to ensure it is completely wiped.
- Remove it and put it back in and now format it using EXFAT as the file system
- If it is up to 128Gb, leave the default allocation unit size.
- If it is larger than 128Gb, set the allocation unit size to 64Kb.
MEMORY INSTALLATION IN THE CONSOLE
- From the console, with VitaShell mount the ux0 unit, and copy all its contents to the computer as a backup. NOTE! You must copy ALL files, including hidden and system files.
- Copy that entire content to the microSD memory
- From Autoplugin install the SD2VITA plugin
- The configurations would be:
- Official memory: uma0 (USB)
- SD2VITA: ux0
- Before restarting, install the SD2VITA memory in the upper slot
- After restarting the console, enter VitaShell to reconfigure the connection to the pc
- Press START and in VitaShell configuration, select in USB device our sd2vita.
PSM RUNTIME v2.01 INSTALLATION
- From PKGj, install any PS Mobile game
- From VitaShell, copy the PCSI00011 folder into the app folder
- Disconnect the computer and from VitaShell return to the root of the Vita
- Exit VitaShell, go to network settings and set the DNS to ip 212.47.229.76
- Run one of the PSM games, which will install the PSM runtime 2.01.
